Children’s Illustrated Book: William Canton The True Annals of Fairyland The Reign of King Herla Illustrated by Charles Robinson First Edition n.d. But 1900

 

The First Edition has for sale the first edition book, The True Annals of Fairyland, edited by William Canton and illustrated by Charles Robinson.  Published by J.M. Dent [London], this is a lovely example of this rare book profusely illustrated by Charles Robinson with 82 illustrations “Also numerous head and tail pieces”

 

The blue-green boards have gilt lettering and decoration to the front board and spine.  The boards are in overall Very Good condition with the front board being slightly faded with very light marks; slight marks to the back board; and the spine is faded with creasing to the cloth

 

There are 365 numbered pages, all edges gilt, with the original decorated endpapers; all very tightly bound and in Very Good to Near Fine condition with slight browning to the front endpapers and the name “Michael” printed on the front free endpaper
