Children’s Illustrated Book: Handasyde The Four Gardens Children’s Stories Illustrated by Charles Robinson First Edition 1912

The First Edition has for sale the first edition Charles Robinson children’s illustrated book The Four Gardens, published by William Heinemann [London], which is in the original purple cloth with gilt decoration and lettering to the front board and spine

The boards are in Very Good condition with slight discolouration to the front and back, and fading to the spine, but with the gilt decoration and lettering still bright

There are 160 numbered pages, containing 4 children’s stories:

• The Haunted Garden
• The Old-Fashioned Garden
• The Poor Man’s Garden
• The Rich Man’s Garden

Accompanying these children’s short stories are 8 wonderful colour full page plates with captioned tissue-guards by Charles Robinson, all present as per the list of illustrations to the front of the book and in pristine condition

All pages are top edge tinted purple to match the boards, and are in overall Very Good condition with light foxing throughout – other than to the plates as previously mentioned

This is a very attractive example of this much sought after first edition of the Charles Robinson children’s illustrated book.
